When starting my Yoga Teacher training I wrote on my first page of my Journal. "Yoga is the practice of physical, mental and way of life being aligned, a form of relaxation, awakening, stretching of muscles, positive life practices & discipline.” Later knowing there's totally so much more to it. Now my perspective on Yoga is so much more different. It's about community, and living in the Yamas and Niyamas, accepting where you are now and most importantly I have learnt non-attachment. It is definitely about asana but it's not just that, more importantly is approaching them properly and safely and being able to teach and communicate that to beginner Yogi students and being able to connect to all people and adapting or modifying as every student is at different journey/level of practice.

I have definitely gained to accept and not be so hard on myself on trying to just get poses but being happy with the journey itself which is far more interesting. Also, I first felt a bit hesitant keeping a Journal as I am not really the type to journal “Dear Diary” but have now learnt how important it is to keep a Journal and write your thoughts your progression and see your journey unfold which actually is quite therapeutic. I definitely see positive change in my life being more aware towards other people, listening more and being present.

I have grown to love guided meditation and meditating and enjoying taking the time out for myself each day. It is so important to reset and clear my thoughts. I have learnt that the mind also needs to rest not just the physical body. Also maintaining that calmness by doing it everyday changes your perspective and applying that into my lifestyle is now a priority.

The challenge sometimes was showing up to the mat every practice even when my body was tired. It's that commitment to the practice of why I choose to be there and show up for myself everyday to be a positive teacher and to practice safely so that I can be able to teach that to my future students. I loved learning about the philosophy behind Yoga it definitely gives yoga that depth, meaning and purpose which also motivates and inspires me.
